Friday’s been… eventful, to say the least. Our train was diverted, and while we were waiting at the Toulouse station for the next one, things took a dramatic turn …….cue suspense music. Apparently, a woman left her bag unattended and wandered off, and since no one could find her, it was treated like a potential bomb scare.

Poo and I were quietly minding our own business in a side area (probably looking suspiciously relaxed), when Security suddenly rushed in speaking rapid French and gesturing for everyone to evacuate. It was like being in a French action movie, only with more backpacks and confused tourists. The police arrived, gave everything the all-clear in about 10 or 15 minutes, and we were back inside like nothing ever happened. Très dramatique!

After that bit of excitement, we continued on the second leg of our train trip to Hendaye. I managed to snap a beautiful shot of the Pyrenees—still capped with snow and looking postcard-perfect.

We also met another pilgrim on the train who got off a few stops earlier in Bayonne. He’s planning to start his Camino from Irun on Sunday, which honestly sounds like a good idea. We’re feeling pretty worn out from what’s felt like nonstop travel, so we might do the same and give ourselves a breather before starting the walk.
We didn’t ……. We started Saturday morning as planned.
Xoxo, Katy
