A Great Week Together With Family
Days Remaining to Finish Cooking Class: 35 Average Grade: 97.8%
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I have one unit of study left, actually two, but it looks as if the last unit, other than the final, will be more reflective than information based. I can do that!
Because I have 86% of the class finished, and 35 days left to complete the class on time, I’m feeling relieved as we approach the 4th of July holiday weekend.
My goal was to finish up unit 7 before the holiday as I will be on vacation all of next week and I didn’t really want the burden of a lot of class work hanging over my head. I just want to enjoy the week off of work, spend time with my family, and get ready for a backyard party we are hosting the following Saturday.
My week off will begin as I travel to Chicago to meet up with my sister, who is flying in from California, where we will spend a few days exploring the Windy City.
She is turning 60 in July and we are planning to have an excessive amount of fun celebrating.
We have had some great times together but not as much as I would like. All those states between us, and limited income, prevents us from truly bonding on a regular basis. When we do get together, it’s as if no time at all has passed.
This is one of my favorite pictures of us together, and I don’t have a lot of them, but this was a great memory.
We look like sisters, don’t we!
My vacation week will begin in Chicago for about 3 days and then off to the lake where we will spend the Fourth visiting with more family. I think I’ve mentioned that I’m the youngest of eight. It sometimes gets chaotic, but I have never known anything else.
Traditionally, those family members who can swing it will meet at the lake over the 4th of July for a long weekend.
Many of us participate in the Flotilla 5K that is always on the 4th. It’s held at the park in Syracuse and winds around part of the lake and park. My three brothers always run it and I run or walk, depending on how my right knee is behaving. Yes, it misbehaves. Not my favorite body part!

This picture is from last year. My brother, Steve, was injured and sat this race out. He took the picture.
After running the 5K, some years, we continued the fun with a 24 mile bike ride around the area lakes. My brother, Dan, has a specific route mapped out which includes a stop at Pie Eyed Petey’s for a break AND a beer! It’s a cool local area bar/restaurant situated on Tippecanoe Lake.
For the most part, it’s a pretty safe route but there are a few busy roads you have to ride. After the stop at PEP’s we headed back towards North Webster and then Papakeechie.
Do you ever have one of those days that is so much fun that you just can’t stop thinking about it? A day that you keep replaying in your head? A day that gets better each time you think about it?
This was that day for me! There’s nothing better than spending QUALITY time with your family.

I don’t know what’s in store for this year on the Fourth, but I do know it will be another year to remember. They always are.
As I write this blog, it makes me realize that I don’t take near enough pictures. But, on the other hand ……………..
I’m living in the moment!
– FAMILY – Life’s greatest blessing. A group that dreams, laughs, plays and loves together. Those whom you can always count on. Always present not only in the good times. The most precious gift.
xoxo, Katy
