Tax Season is Here Again

Do You Love Tax Season As Much As Me?
A picture of my fireplace, where I like to sit and work on my taxes.
My spot in front of the fireplace where I work on my taxes.

Ohhhhh, how I delight in this time of year!

This is NOT a popular declaration, I’m sure.

But still, every January I wait patiently for my tax planner to be delivered to that little box out by the road.  When it finally arrives, I promptly open it up to find out when my accountant has scheduled our year-end meeting.   I write it on my calendar in anticipation of our “date.”

At the risk of coming across as a dork, I must admit that the tax planner is my own personal playground.

Yes, I’m an organizer …….

Or ………… controlling?

I relish in spending time in front of the fireplace the following several weekends gathering information that I will eventually turn over to my CPA.

The patience I must exhibit, as I wait for my tax information to come dribbling in, is exhausting.

My tax planner along with tax documents.
Getting my information together one piece at a time.

Little by little, I fill in all the vacant spots on each page of the organizer with the pertinent data.

I add up my documented miles and proudly record the number.

I precisely archive my taxes paid, the cost of supplies I used, and all charitable contributions.

Nerd alert!

I absolutely adore my accountant.  He always schedules me as early as he can get away with, as he knows I will be ready.  Although, when you’re scheduled on the last day of January, there is usually something I am still missing.

I know that most don’t feel the way I do but, I like to think of it this way:

The sooner I know what the "damage report" will be, the sooner I can deal with the consequences.

Right?

I’m not exactly an organizational guru, but I might closely qualify.  And ……. those that know me well, appreciate my love of a slow stroll down every aisle in an office supply store.

A small sampling of my office supplies.

Paperclips.  Staplers.  Highlighters.  Sharpies.  File Folders.  Quicken.

Ohhhh, the love I have for this juncture in time is immeasurable.

Truly 🙂
