Dry January – Was My Experiment Effective?

My new 30-day resolution is just around the corner and I have yet to decide my next challenge.

A favorite adult beverage of mine: Tito’s & Tonic with lime and jalapeño.

If you read my last post, you know that I wanted to try something a little different this year with respect to a “New Year Resolution.”

I am taking one thing I want to change in, or incorporate into, my life and only focus on that one thing for the entire month. Hence, the title of my last post, “My 30 Day Micro-Resolution Experiment – January.”

My January resolution was all about re-evaluating my relationship with alcohol. I’m sure you’ve heard of it or, at least heard the term for this exercise in abstinence. It’s called, “Dry January.” Apparently, one in five Americans participated in “Dry January” this year.

Although not 100% successful, I was one of them that tried and, I am more than satisfied with my first attempt. I will be doing it again 🙂

As I said in my January post, I had a few careless moments early in the month, undoubtedly caused by external conditions and the forces of habit. You know that repetitive habit I’m talking about ……… You go to eat at your favorite Mexican restaurant, or your favorite hometown bar for date night and, POOF, you order that favorite spirit you always get, before you even give it a thought. Cognizance!

I am also a sucker for Margarita’s. We were vacationing with friends in Daytona a few years ago and we all ordered the restaurant’s signature margarita drink.

I’m not looking for perfect but, a higher level of awareness.

January is coming to a close soon, very soon, and I am still contemplating my next 30-day challenge.

“If you don’t challenge yourself, you will never realize what you can become.”
